These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) set out the agreement between Octo Books (“we”, “us”, “our”) and the author or rights holder (“you”, “your”) when you submit written material (“Work”) for publication through octobooks.co.uk or any associated platforms.

By submitting your Work to us, you agree to these Terms.

• You retain full copyright and all intellectual property rights in your Work.
• Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of your Work to us.
• You are free to publish, license, or distribute your Work elsewhere at any time unless a separate written agreement states otherwise.

By submitting your Work, you grant Octo Books a non‑exclusive, worldwide, royalty‑free licence to:

• publish, distribute, and make your Work available in digital or physical formats
• edit, format, or adapt your Work for publication (without altering its meaning)
• use excerpts, summaries, cover images, and related materials for marketing, advertising, and promotional purposes
• display your name, pen name, or other identifying information in connection with the Work

This licence exists solely to allow us to publish and promote your Work. You may revoke this licence at any time by requesting removal of your Work from our 

platform (see Section 7).

You confirm that:

• you are the copyright owner of the Work, or you have full permission to submit it
• the Work does not infringe the rights of any third party
• the Work does not contain unlawful, defamatory, or harmful content
• any quotes or third‑party materials are properly licensed or fall under fair use

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from breaches of these assurances.

We will:

• publish your Work in accordance with these Terms
• make reasonable efforts to present your Work professionally
• remove or update your Work upon request within a reasonable timeframe

We do not guarantee sales, readership, or promotional outcomes.

We may make minor edits for clarity, formatting, or technical compatibility. We will not make substantive changes to the meaning or content of your Work without your permission.

You grant us permission to:

• advertise your Work across our website, social media, newsletters, and partner platforms
• use excerpts, quotes, cover art, and metadata for promotional purposes
• create derivative promotional materials (e.g., graphics, blurbs, summaries)

You may also promote your Work independently.

You may request removal of your Work at any time by contacting us at Office@octobooks.co.uk.

Upon receiving your request:

• we will remove the Work from our platform within a reasonable period
• previously printed or distributed copies may continue to exist
• promotional materials already published may remain in circulation

The licence granted to us ends once removal is complete, except for materials already produced.

If we offer paid publishing, royalties, or revenue sharing, these will be governed by a separate agreement. These Terms apply regardless of whether the Work is paid or free.

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

• we are not liable for loss of profits, data, reputation, or indirect damages
• our total liability to you will not exceed the amount you have paid us (if any)

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud or anything that cannot be excluded by law.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes materially affect your rights, we will notify you via email or website notice.

Continued publication of your Work after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
